A Sketch for you to Try :)

Good Morning! I promise I'm trying really hard to post more often! You should see the cabinets and the desk top in my garage though, it's so cool. I can't wait to get it into our scrapbook room and get organized. I will definitely share pics :)
Today Amy Rysavy has a new sketch posted and this card was made for her sketch. I don't know what it is about rain that I love so much, but I do. It rained all night last night and I just love it. Sara's softball games got canceled yesterday because of the weather. I think it's the renewal that rain brings especially in the spring. The plants and flowers all love getting the "real" water and not just water out of a watering can. I love how everything that's green brightens up just a bit after the rain.
Anyway......I bought this little Bitzy Bugz with the umbrella a while ago and this is the first time I've use it. I just love it though!
I started with a pink base and then used BoBunny Ella Dot paper (the back of it is the plaid) and the floral paper is from Anna Griffin. I colored with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits (big surprise there :) and I added Robin's Nest Dew Drops. I don't know what paper the pink polka dot is because I got it from my scraps and the yellow polka dot ribbon was from my scraps too! The "have a beautiful day" stamp is by AMuse Artstamps. Here is a link to the ATS blog so you can see some more examples of the fun sketch. http://www.atsblog.typepad.com/ Feel free to create your own card based on it and link it to the blog.

All That Scraps Challenge

Good Morning! Yes, I know I'm getting worse at posting than I am intending to. I have a good excuse this time. Hubby and I have been working on my cabinets and table for my scrapbooking room. We HOPE to get them installed sometime this week so if we do I'll take pictures and show you what has been taking me away from posting :) They are all custom made (by hubby) so it's taking a little while to complete.

This card was done for a challenge issued by Christine at www.allthatscraps.com. We were to use 3 ribbons on a project and this is mine. I LOVE this Hey Chicky set, it's one of my favorites. For this card I used some older provocraft patterened paper that I had to layer the background. I stamped the Chicky in versafine sepia (I'm finding I really like the sepia, I tend to reach for it more than black). I colored with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, the parts of the chicky that weren't going to be flocked (I also find that coloring BEFORE flocking works best). Then I flocked the Chicky :) I love flocking!!! I added brads, a prima flower and a gem and tied the ribbons and it's complete! I really love these challenges! Click over to the All That Scraps blog and you can see some other samples. http://www.atsblog.typepad.com/ Then if you're feeling inspired take the challenge yourself!

A Sympathy Card

Good Afternoon! I'm late in posting, but at least I'm posting :)

Sympathy cards are definitely not something I make alot of. It's more of a make one when I need one, so sometimes it's harder for me to come up with what I like and what conveys the message that I'm trying to send. This one did that for me though. The cardstock is a dark tan-ish gold-ish color. It went well with the patterned paper that is from K&Co Ancestry line. It's light green decorative bronzed paper. The bronzed part has a little bit of a sheen to it, but not much. The stamp is from a Heidi Grace clear set. It's one vine and I just stamped it twice. I didn't have just the right color ink I didn't think so I inked it with VersaMagic pumpkin spice and then I tapped Versa Magic gingerbread on top of the pumpkin spice. I liked how it turned out, with a little bit of dimension. The green is just c/s from DCWV and then the ribon is an organdy ribbon I picked up at Joann's the other day. The words I used are rub-ons from My Sentiments Exactly. I LOVE them! They have packages for different themes and there are rub-ons for the fronts and the insides of the cards! Made this one much easier.

I'm hoping to stamp a little bit tonight, hope you get to as well!

Pink and Brown Challenge from CC Designs

Good Morning! I know most of the morning is gone and it's almost afternoon!

First to this card. Christine from All That Scraps challenged us to a color challenge. We were to make a card using only pink and brown. We could stamp our image on white, but that's it. I did add some glitter to Gwenny's sunglasses :) This is my card. I used Gwenny from CC Designs Glam Girls set, and "Hey Chicky" is from CC Designs Hey Chicky set. I colored with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, used Basic Grey "sultry" patterned paper for Gwenny's clothes and added prima flowers and a Robin's Nest Dew Drop. Oh, the polka dot card and the ribbon, I picked up at Joanne's this weekend. You can go to the All That Scraps blog and see more of the Challenge cards. http://www.atsblog.typepad.com/

Now, onto being back on the blog. Thank goodness. I've missed posting. I've been working ALOT and the kids have been busy as can be. Ben had 5 soccer games in 5 school days because of make-ups from the weather. Sara has started school softball as well as tournaments for ASA so we spent the last 2 weekends at softball tournaments. Last weekend was COLD and windy. This weekend was windy but warm. I loved it and got some sun too!

So hopefully I can back into the swing of things and posting daily (or almost daily :)

What You Can do with Scraps

Good Morning! I hope everyone is doing well today. It's supposed to rain here, but the rain is doing wonders for our plants and everything is turning beautiful shades of green so I'm not complaining one bit :)

Today's card is completely from scraps. I read once, and I can't remember where I read it, but anyway, I read that a time savor and great use of your supplies is to make a card with your scraps after you finish making a scrapbook page. That's exactly what I did here. I made a scrapbook page and then while I had coordinating papers and embellishments out I made this card. It's a very simple card (I'm still working on my scrapbook room and it's still a BIG mess, but once it's finished I'll be able to get to my sewing machine more easily and then I would have stitched around the pieces of patterned paper on this card). Easy to make and I didn't have to try to figure out what colors and papers and embellishments I wanted to use because I had already picked them out. You should try this, it's very rewarding :)

Mother's Day is getting close!

Good Morning! I don't know if you realize it, but Mother's Day is this weekend! It snuck up on me this year. Until yesterday I was still thinking I had a couple of weeks. But no, and because the mother's in our life don't live near us, I have to plan ahead to get things mailed out. So, here I am scurrying to get things together and mailed out in time for Mother's Day. I hope they know that even if their gifts are late, we still love them like crazy!!!

This is a card I made last night and I really like it. I know I'm not supposed to say that about my own card, but I think it turned out really cute. I started with a plain white card base and many times I don't like how my cards turn out when I do that, but this time it worked for me. Whoo Hoo!!

I used patterned paper from Imaginisce (have I told you lately how much I'm loving Imaginisce? - and this one's even an older paper). It's also double sided so the red with polka dots is the opposite side of the blue. The stamp is one I bought from the Hot Spot at Archiver's, it was $1.99, I'm lovin' that too :) I added ribbon, prima flowers, gems and dew drops and inked the edge of the card. Oh, on the inside I stamped "Have a Fantabulous Day" from Bella Stamps.

I hope you're Mother's Day cards are getting completed and you're loving them :)

Sending Happy Thoughts

Good Morning! I hope spring is in the air for you. The sun is shining and it's warming up a bit here. It's beautiful outside!!! We even slept with the windows open last night, I love that :)

This card was made with some stamps that a friend of mine gave me (thanks Teresa :). When you go to ScrapMania at Archiver's, which is what they call their Friday and Saturday night crops, you get a packet of materials to make a layout and each month is a different packet. Well I think it was last month a small set of Hero Arts stamps was included in the packet and I didn't get a chance to go to a crop, but my friend Teresa did and she doesn't really "do" flowers so she gave me her set of stamps and all she asked was that I make a card for her. That was an awesome deal in my book, because I LOVE stamps and flowers! This is the card I made for her. The flowers around the border of the card are actually a flower border stamp so that made that part really easy. The turquoise piece I embossed with my cuttlebug embossing folder and mounted on yellow plaid paper. The little envelope is a punch that I just recently purchased so I was excited to use it. It's from McGill. Then I just handcut a little tag from the same yellow that is matting the turquoise and stamped "Sending Happy Thoughts" and a little flower from the same stamp set onto the tag. I added some fiber that I had in my stash and a prima flower with a hero arts gem in the center. I thought it turned out cute and Teresa liked it. I just love to share :)
