Double Pocket Card

Good Morning! This will be a quick post because I need to leave the house in just a couple of minutes, but I wanted to get a card posted :) If you have any questions that I don't answer just leave me a comment or email me and I will answer.

This card is a double pocket card and I will be doing one of these for a swap, but I had never done one before and I wanted to test it before the swap. It was fun to do and I was happy with how it turned out. I used paper from imaginisce, stamps from Autumn Leaves (3 different sets), my nestabilities, and my quickutz. The card doesn't open you just write what you want onto the tag with the journaling block. Lots of fun, I will be making more of these :)

Lots of Pink

Hi! I missed a day I know, but it's not because I'm not making things, it just because I'm making some things that I just can't share yet......but I will eventually :)

This one though was fun! Caardvarks is a blog that puts challenges on all the time and this challenge is to use pink because the sponsor is a new stamp company called Pink Persimmon. You can see more about the challenge here: http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/. Anyway, this is the card I made for the pink challenge. I was telling a friend of mine today about Caardvarks and about how challenges get me to do things I wasn't planning on doing right then. For instance, the punch I used on this card is a Fiskars punch that I bought about, oh, 6 months ago maybe. I just took it out of the packaging to do this card! I did make another card with it while I had it out :)

Okay, the details about the card. I started with a bazzill card base and I put it inside out so you can see the texture on the inside. I punched the slots into the back of the card and then cut the front so the back would be visible when I put the ribbon through. The plaid paper is an old paper from Daisy D's and the paper I punched the circles with on the sides is an old paper from Magenta. The stamps are both from Whipper Snapper and I stamped them both in Versafine Vintage Sepia. I colored with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits. I mounted the puppy image on sugar coated paper from Doodlebug and then I added a prima flower and a glittered brad. I threaded the ribbon through the slots and tied a bow in the front. Fun!

All That Scraps DT Challenge Wednesday

Good afternoon! Wednesday is All That Scraps Design Team Challenge. This week's challenge was to use glitter on our project. Well, I had fun with this one. The background paper is K&Co Berry Sweet line Heart Vines Glitter Thermography Paper and the green strip is from the same line, just not glittery. I used Doodlebug sugar coated paper to cute the doodled flowers with a cuttlebug die. Then I added dew drops to the centers. My stamps are from the Hey Chicky set and the Chicky is colored with what other than prismacolor pencils and minerals spirits :) A Hero Arts gem is in the center of that flower. Chicky is mounted on more sugar coated paper and the brackets are actually from a Making Memories set of stuff like that and they came glittered like they are. Oh, the ribbon is from American Crafts and is teal with a gold thread running through it so it glitters too :) This was fun and not something I would normally do. See, once again I'm going to tell you how much fun challenges are. You can see some more projects made for this challenge here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/phptopro/showgallery.php?cat=537. Jen will also be posting it to the message board so you can play along too! I can't wait to see what next week's challenge will be!

Happy Everything :)

Good Morning! My posting record is going pretty well so far :) I have been working some so I need to get back into my room and make some more cards. My room is STILL a mess because I'm not finished going through paper scraps and other odds and ends, but my Mom and Dad are coming the end of this month and my Mom is the Queen of Cleaning (and sorting) so I'm sure she'll help me :) I really want it to be neat just for a bit so I can take pictures and show you.

Okay, on to the card. If you can believe it, this card is actually a little brighter in real life. Okay, the sentiment isn't, I should have used staz-on before I brayered, but I didn't so this is how it is :) The circle flower stamps are from Stampendous and the little chick and the sentiment are from Hero Arts. I stamped the circles in versamark and then brayered over them with Kaleidocolor ink. Then I stamped the sentiment in the same ink just the darker color, but it still isn't dark enough for me, oh well. The chick is colored with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, but I did use my copics just a bit on this one. She is mounted on Bazzill Bling cut with nestabilities and then I tied the ribbon on! Another easy one.

I miss doing the "Unloved Stamp" challenges, I think I need to go back to those. Right now I have so many new stamps that I'm just itching to use though. BUT, I don't want the older ones to feel unloved so I will see what I can do with that :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope your day is fabulous!

Penny :)

Good Morning! I'm so excited about sharing this card with you because I just LOVE both of these stamps! They are both from Whipper Snapper and as soon as they came in the mail, I immediately made this card! It even made my 16 year old son laugh :) It's just a fun card! I used chatterbox papers and embossed the bottom one with my cuttlebug embossing folder, and then distressed it just a bit. Penny is colored with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits and then the water is made with diamond glaze. Penny is matted on bazzill bling cardstock although you can't see the shine in the picture, sorry about that. The ribbon is from Offray and is just a grosgrain ribbon I got from Joann's. I have admitted that I am a ribbon fanatic :)

And yet one more gatefold card :)

Good morning! Yet another gatefold card. They are so much fun to make!!! Try it, you'll like it :)
For this one I started with prism brown card base and used patterned paper by Flair. The stamps are a new set (at least for me :) by gelatins. I had never used these stamps before but they are nice! The flowers are felt flowers by Maya Road and the ribbon is by May Arts. The only coloring I did was the coffee togo cup and of course I used prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits. That's all there is to it! I've been looking at some new blogs for sketches, so you may be seeing some new sites to visit soon.

Good afternoon! Hope everyone is doing well today and getting lots of stamping and scrapbooking done. Yesterday I got alot of cards made, some that I get to show in the next couple of days and some that have to wait for CC Designs release countdown. The new stamps are SOOOOOOOO cute, you're going to love them!!! I also got my new Whipper Snapper stamps that I ordered. Oh my gosh, I love them. They are so cute! I've already made a card with some of them too. And actually the saying on this card is from them.

Okay, to the card. The background is a brayering technique with Kaleidocolor ink from Tsukineko and the color I used is Caribbean Sea. You do this technique on glossy paper and it is so cool. I've done a few cards like this so you will probably see a couple more in the next few days :) The stamp I used is CC Designs Bitzy Bugz Umbrelli. I made this focal image some time ago when I made a different one for another card but I loved this one too so I held on to it until I found the perfect card for it to go onto. I love umbrellas, I guess it goes along with my love of rain :) Anyway, when I saw this sentiment stamp on the Whipper Snapper site, I knew I had to have it! It's perfect for my umbrella stamps don't you think? I colored the bug with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits and paper pieced the umbrella with patterned paper that I can't find my scrap from to tell you who made it, sorry :) I paper pieced her boots with bazzill and added some bling. Then of course I had to add some dew drops and a ribbon to make it complete :)

I'm excited about how many cards I complete so be sure to check in each day for a few days, I just might surprise you with new posts everyday :)

Another Gatefold Card :)

Hi! Yes, it's late and I'm still up. I wanted to get something new posted so it doesn't end up being another week between postings. My LSU Tigers had bad weather in Omaha this evening so they haven't finished their game yet.

These gatefold cards are so much fun to make. With the Score Pal it's really easy too because the markings for the score lines are already where they need to be....so easy! For this one I used the Froggie and Friends set by CC Designs, you can find it here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=650_673. I used Basic Grey papers from the Dasher line and the green is from Making Memories. I also used some handmade paper for the lily pad and cattails. The froggies are pop-dotted for dimension and I distressed the edges of all the papers. Coloring was done with prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencils and mineral spirits.

I love to decorate the inside of these cards too so I put a cattail and another leaping froggie inside. If you haven't tried a gatefold card, just do it! I think you'll love it!

All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge

Good Afternoon! Late in posting again today, but I had to leave early for a softball game.
Today is All That Scraps Wednesday Design Team Challenge and our challenge this week was to use a background stamp instead of patterned paper. This is what I came up with. I used the dotted background stamp and stamped it 4 times, 1 with red, 1 with blue and 2 with yellow. the red matting behind Lucky is embossed with my cuttlebug dots embossing folder. Lucky and the sentiment stamps are from the "It's My Birthday" set from CC Designs. I colored Lucky and the presents with prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencils and mineral spirits and then colored the ribbons and bows with glitter pens. It was fun using just stamps as the background. You can find more of the design team samples in the gallery at All That Scraps. http://www.allthatscraps.com/phptopro/showgallery.php?cat=537 You can play along and link your card to the All That Scraps blog too!

And just to update you on the LSU Tigers quest for the College World Series Championship, yesterday they sent the Rice Owls home by winning the game in the bottom of the 9th inning!! Geaux Tigers!!!! They play again on Thursday evening!
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Find Your Wings and Fly

Wow! It's been almost a week since I posted and I'm having withdrawals! My dh had surgery on his wrist for Carpal Tunnel and my daughter was in the State Softball Tourney this past weekend and my Tigers lost their 1st ball game in the College World Series so they have to win today. Whew.......enough about my reasons for not posting.

The card today uses some scraps that I had because I've been going through scrap papers and filing them into their appropriate files (only if they are big enough to do something with :) I keep coming across pieces that I love which then go into a different pile - the please do something with me soon pile :) I know that's probably not as productive as just filing them already, but I kind of work that way. My scraproom is coming along but still has a ways to go getting cleaned up before I can post pictures.

Okay, on to today's card. The base is Cool Metallic Amethyst from Paper Company and I used my cuttlebug embossing folder on it. The paper scraps are from Paper Salon (the floral) and Doodlebug (the dots). The butterfly and sentiment are from All That Scraps - the Beautiful Butterflies set. Remember, Christine still has a big sale going on and has added some more things to it, so if you haven't been over there lately, here's a link: http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=96&zenid=21ca617dab6f4d62cea708c596ba0584

I added prima flowers with a Making Memories crystal brad in the middle, gems and some dew drops and then silk ribbon with a satin ribbon tied to it. Oh, something different in my coloring of this one. Instead of Prismacolor pencils I used Koh-I-Noor pencils that I purchased from Michaels along with mineral spirits. I discovered them from a post on Gina K's blog here: http://blog.ginakdesigns.com/2008/06/08/kohinoor-pencil-tutorial-and-some-blog-candy-too.aspx. Just remember that I don't color NEARLY as well as she does! Then I put glitter on top of the color.

ATS DT Wednesday Challenge

Good Morning! Yes, it's raining here again! Good thing I like rain because we are certainly getting more than our share this spring.

Today's card is part of the All That Scraps Wednesday Design Team Challenge. This challenge was to create a gatefold card. You can go to the All That Scraps blog and see more of the cards in the challenge. For mine I used Virginia from the Layla and Virginia Glamour Girls set and the sentiment on the inside "Happy 4th" is from the set as well. I used some old patterned paper I had on the front of the card and to paper piece Virginia's pants, and copics to color her shirt and hat. On the inside of the card I used a cuttlebug die to make the fireworks from some glittery sticker paper I had in my stash. Then I used glitter pens to make the sparks flying off the fireworks.

Be sure to go check out the blog: http://www.atsblog.typepad.com/ and while you're there check out the sale that Christine has going on too. http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=96_279&zenid=a2ae90cca2b6f5cedbd89fe65a1588ce.

Sweet and Simple

Good Morning! More rain in the forecast for today, but before it starts we have a softball game to go to :)

This card was really easy because of the double sided paper I used. I really like double sided papers because it's less coordinating that I have to do :) This sketch is from SplitCoastStampers. I'm not there often, but every now and then I see something that sends me over there. I really need to get more involved in that site because they really have some great stuff going on! Anyway back to the card, the sketch is here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=97111&d=1212551370 and this is my card with it. I used Bazzill card base, Imaginisce patterned paper that's two sided and then the Bazzill again for the large circle and some ivory c/s for the stamped circle. The stamp is from Inkadinkado. I found room to get to my sewing machine so I stitched around the whole thing including the little strips.

Our quote for the day is the one on the card: "God doesn't look at how much we do, but with how much love we do it." - Mother Teresa

Oh, I almost forgot the LSU baseball team pulled out a win in the 9th inning over California Irvine so they play again today!!! GEAUX TIGERS!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Just Keep Swimming

Good Morning! Today's card is VERY appropriate for us because it's raining AGAIN. We've had thunderstorms alot the last couple of weeks and we're in for more today and tomorrow. All my plants love it though :)

I made this card just for fun because I LOVE the whale paper and I bought the paper frills (I know they aren't new, but I just hadn't bought them yet) and I just love this little fishy stamp from CC Designs. Soooooo, I put it all together and this is what I cam up with. The whale paper is from K&Co, the fishy stamp is available here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=360_361_249 for $1.00! I colored my fishy with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits and used flocking on the flower on her swimcap. I used my corner rounder to scallop both the white and the turquoise papers and then traced the scallop with an orange glaze pen. The Paper Frills from Doodlebug Designs are on the top and bottom of the whale paper. The stamps for Just Keep Swimming are Karen Foster snap stamps. At first I wasn't too sure about how close together they are, but the more I look at it, the more I like that. I also punched some circle from blue vellum and put them behind the fishy like air bubbles, but you couldn't see them well, so I added diamond glaze to them and now they shine. You can see them better in real life, but if you click on the picture and make it bigger you can see them too! (Also, the top of the card is really straight, the picture is at an angle that makes it look crooked - sorry :)

In other news, All That Scraps is having a HUGE sale to make room for new stuff. This is how the All That Scraps blog describes it:

Turning 2

Good Morning! I hope the sun is shining for you today! Last night our tornado sirens were going off and we had some pretty bad weather although thank goodness no tornados at our house. This morning it's a beautiful start to the day!

I can finally share this card! As soon as I saw the sizzlet of the owl, I knew I had to have it and I knew exactly what my first project would be with it......this card. Our grandson, Tyler, turned 2 this year and I wanted to make a special card for him, but I couldn't share it until now, because I didn't want anyone else to see it before him :) Turns out he liked it so it was a success.

I used the owl sizzlet die cut, which is a new one and I paper pieced him together. Then I embossed some green paper with my cuttlebug swiss dots folder and punched leaves out of that. When I put the leaves on, I used dew drops at their stems to cover the stem part. The font is Quickutz Frankie. It was a fun card to do and I love that it is so personalized :)

I didn't get any cards made last night because I really didn't want to be that far away from the basement if a tornado did make it our way, so I stayed on the main floor with the fam. So hopefully today I'll get to finish up one I started yesterday morning. (Dana, it's using the paper frills :)

Froggie's Friends

Good Morning! It's the last day of school here so maybe, just maybe I won't be getting up quite so early for a while. I'm not holding my breath though :)

This card is another one using CC Designs "Froggie and Friends" set. You can find it here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=650_673. My husband just reminded me last night of how much I love the dew drops. He's right I do. I think they add just a touch of dimension, color, texture and such to my cards. For this card I embossed the blue with my cuttlebug embossing folder and then used more papers from the DCWV spring matstack. Of course the images are colored with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, but I'm going to surprise y'all because next week I'm going to post a card that I used my copics on :) I inked around everything with VersaMagic Pumpkin Spice ink and added the brads and the dew drops. I just love these little guys!

Hello Layla!

Good morning! Two post in two days, maybe I am getting back into my routine, please keep your fingers crossed for me :)

Meet Layla! She is another one of Christine's new releases for June. They are all now available here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=650_673
If you like to paper piece, these Glamour Girls are for you! I love playing with them and making them work for whatever occasion I need!

This card uses CC Designs Layla & Virginia set (and the Hello comes with them if you choose). I used pink bazzill card base, and then layered papers from the spring matstack from DCWV. In the past I never used papers from these stacks although I would buy them, these days I'm lovin' them. Not just this one, but Basic Grey's, Making Memories, K & Co. I think the next one I'll try is one of the 8 X 8 stacks from Tinkering Ink, you can see them here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=10_550 - the botanical bliss is calling to me :) Okay, back to the card, the photo corners and the journaling circle are from Heidi Swapp and the felt flower is from American Crafts. Oh I almost forgot about the gems on her pants, they're from Hero Arts :)
