Combining Scraps with a Sketch

Hi - as I've said so many times, I really like sketches.  They give me a great starting point for my cards. 

This week at SplitCoastStampers, the challenge was to choose a past sketch to use. 

My basic supplies are still downstairs so I chose a sketch that I could use mostly paper for.  

I had these papers in my scraps.  They are from Die Cuts with a View and are from the Green Stack collection.  I actually really like these papers so was excited to use them again.  I love the little birds and this sketch is perfect for fun background papers.  

I made the card on the right first.  I decided that it needed a layer behind the birdie layer, so I made the card on the left.  Then I decided that I like to original card the best. LOL  That's how it goes, right?

I got the laundry started and chose to use up some fun scrap papers before more work begins.  :)

I used on older Sketch from SplitCoastStampers (SC229).  It works really well for smaller pieces of paper so in my mind, it's a great way to use scraps that I just love!   I believe this paper is from American Traditions.

The flourish stamp is an older stamp from Autumn Leaves and the Thankful Thoughts is from Verve.  I got it as a sweet little extra that they included with one of my orders.

Attempting CAS

Hi - I got some work done before I decided to treat myself with some creative time this morning.  :)  

I made these two cards for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge to use polka dots.  The CAS style is definitely not my go to style, I find it difficult, but I LOVE the look of CAS cards.  So, I'm going to try to get better.  :)

I used the concentric circle stamp that was on my table from yesterday and again used  kraft cardstock and white ink.  The sentiment is from Stampabilities and originally I wasn't going to add the color layer underneath the sentiment, but it just needed that bit of color.....okay, I needed a bit of color. :)

I couldn't decide what color combo to use, so I just made two cards.  I have a tendency to make two cards at a time anyway, so that worked for me.

3 Challenges in 1 Card

We have never paid to have painters paint the interior of our house, but for the first time, we have a two story family room and we do not have scaffolding.  I am also not brave enough to go up and down an extension ladder enough times to cut in and roll on paint.  :)

So, we had painters here yesterday and today and my craft room was one of the rooms getting painted.  I brought some basic supplies into the breakfast room so I could create something, just in case I needed to.

Yesterday, the SplitCoastStampers Sketch Challenge was posted and I tried to made a card, but it just didn't come together like I envisioned.  So today, the Ways to Use It challenge was to use hardware.  Well, I have way too much hardware and decided to use some.  As I was thinking about it, I decided to try to incorporate both challenges, AND the Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown was to make a masculine card.  I could definitely make that work with hardware, right???

Well, this is what I came up with.  I find that sometimes, when I have limited supplies, I am more creative!  I used 4 different stamp sets, some hardware, a little bit of ribbon (remember it's a masculine card :), some tissue tape, and black and kraft cardstock.

I am trying to finish my Operation Write Home box with Thank You cards, but I really wanted this one to be I Miss You.  It will still go in the box.  :)

More Work another Card

More work done means I get to play just a little.  Oh, and just so you know.....I think painting a ceiling equals a workout!!!  :)  

I'm trying to finish filling my Operation Write Home box with Thank You cards and this is what I came up with.  

I used some papers that need to be packed....that's a bonus right ;).

Pack a box, make a card :)

Hi!  Yes, this means I have been a bit productive.  I was going through 'stuff' and guess what I found.  This fun little heart confetti.  It really doesn't pack well, so I decided I just needed to use it!

I used older Imaginisce paper and Stampendous stamps on this card.  I cut out the heart shape from the pink panel and then cut a heart shape to fit from clear acrylic to make the window for the confetti.  

Operation Write Home shippers list their 'current needs' on the Mailroom, shipping page and right now Sandy needs love, thanks and miss you cards.  My box is almost full so I will concentrate on finishing it with these needs.

Operation Write Home Sketch

Hi!  I hope everyone has moved into summer mode and is having a great time.  :)  It seems that my little family can't go too long without an adventure so we are beginning another one.  We are moving to Jackson, MS.  We have moved enough times to know that it is not a small undertaking, but I'm hoping we are up for the challenge.  The packing has begun somewhat, but the house is not on the market yet.  As usual, we were in the middle of some house projects when we made this decision, LOL.

So my stamping has now become sort of a reward for getting things checked off my to do list.  Plus I keep telling myself that the more stuff I use, the less I have to pack, you see my logic here right?  ;)

My card for today uses the Operation Write Home Sketch #178.  Have I told you lately how much I love sketches?  I used papers that were on my desk from other cards recently made as well as Hero Arts stamps.  The anchor is a set that has a die with it as well.  The bonus on this card is that I used eyelets!  Yes, real eyelets, I can't tell you the last time I used eyelets, so I was kind of proud of myself, LOL.

Okay, back to work for me, but thanks for stopping by and I hope to keep posting because that means I have been able to reward myself with some stamping time, which means that I have been  productive.  ;)
