Banana Split Sunday - Pattern Frenzy

Good Morning!

I don't know about you, but this time of the year is just crazy around my house! Our last day of school was Friday - woo hoo!

Today is Banana Split Sunday on the 2RedBananas blog. The challenge for this week is "Pattern Frenzy" and the requirement is to use at least 3 different patterned papers on your project.

I LOVE patterened papers. I love the 'texture' they give to colors. I have also come to realize that "Heartfelt Friends" is one of my go-to stamp sets when I'm doing an "I love you" card. I just love these little critters and how sweet they all are.

So, for this card I used Imaginisce's 'Baby Powder' line, such sweet colors. I also used Fantasy Fiber to piece the heart that the monkey is holding on to. I LOVE that stuff :)

Love You Bears

Good Morning!

Have you ever been cleaning up and 'rediscovered' things you had forgotten about :) I giggle at my kids doing this, but I was doing it yesterday!! So today's card has some of the same elements that yesterday's card did. I just love 'finding' new toys!!

This one was for the Sketch Challenge on SCS. I really like this sketch - lots of room for embellishments, but definitely keeps your focal image front and center.

Supplies:
Stamps: Rachelle Anne Miller - Garden Bears, Love You -Snowman Love - 2RedBananas
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Chestnut Roan chalk ink, Ice Blue chalk ink
Paper: Pink Paislee - Captivation Collection, Bazzill
Other: May Arts Twinkle ribbon, Nesties dies-Curved Rectangles, Quickutz dies Nested Flowers, Cuttlebug-don't know the name, but the corner pieces, gems, pop dots, prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, Inkssentials white pen

Using Negative Space

Another evening post.....I think I'm doing more of those lately. Oh well, another Valentine card for today, but this one was done for a new challenge site to me. It's called No Time to Stamp by Sharon Johnson. It's one of the one's that's listed on the "The Daily Dare" link on the right side of my blog.

Anyway, for this challenge we were supposed to use negative space. I happen to LOVE using negative space, so this is what I came up with. It's so easy though, I can probably explain it in two sentences, so I'll draw it out a little (I did take three pictures so you get the idea which I probably couldn't have explained very well.

Okay, I took the "love" stamp from the "Snowman Love" set and stamped it in warm red chalk ink, in continuous lines across the card. I had a little bit of space left at the bottom, but not enough for another row so I took my border punch and made a border at the bottom. I put a strip of red Bazzill cardstock on the inside of the card to show under the border.

Then I punched a heart out of the front of the card.
I added red gems from Paper Co. to the inside of the punched heart so I would get a heart shape that would fit right inside the negative space of the heart.
These two pictures show the negative space of the heart and the gems as they look on the inside of the card. Finally I added the sheer ribbon on the top. That's it, but it was fun!!!

A little Snowman Love

Good Morning!! Are you ready for a little Snowman Love???? This is the set we are featuring on the 2RedBananas blog today. I know you're saying what do Snowmen and Love have to do with each other especially in February right??? Well, in Iowa, we still have about 8 to 10" of snow on the ground and will have much more before winter is over, plus snowmen are just fun! I love to look outside at them while sitting inside drinking my coffee :) So, I decided that a stamp set that has elements of Snowmen and Valentine's Day would be FUN! And so, here it is :)

My first card uses Imaginisce paper from the Loves Me line. I rounded all the corners, something I don't often do, but always like!
I stamped the snowman images in Memento black ink and colored with Copics. The arms I stamped on brown cardstock and the heart on red and then cut them out. The "Be Mine" sentiment is separate from the heart, there are other sentiments you can use to put inside the heart. I pop-dotted the heart and wrapped the arms around the snowman, you can see this better in the close-up picture.

You can see in this picture what I did to the blue background much better. I used the glue pad and stamped the trio of hearts and then glittered them with blue water colored glitter. ( I didn't clean the extra glitter off as well as I thought, sorry about that). I also glittered the outside of the snowman with a quickie glue pen and regular colored glitter.
Then I tied the heart ribbon onto the card. My favorite thing about this set is how the snowman can hold the little heart with sentiments in it. You could also have him hold other things, like punched out stars etc.

For this card, I made the snowman the same way except I left his arms out and put mittens on them. I also painted him with Angel Wings Shimmerz (you can see that better in the close up picture).

Here you can also see the sparkle of the ink that I used for the background snowflakes. It's Pearlescent Sky Blue Brilliance and it's my favorite ink for snowflakes.
No glitter needed :) Oh and I also added dew drops to this one, did you notice the card above doesn't have dew drops on it.......gasp!!!!

The dt has rocked this set as well, so be sure to visit their blogs and leave a comment.

Then go to the 2RedBananas blog and we have a question for you there. Have fun hopping!
