Wednesday's Challenge - ATSDTC11

Good Morning! Every Wednesday on the All That Scraps website, Jen posts a new challenge for everyone. This week's challenge is to use buttons. There are so many of us that collect buttons because they are pretty colors, fun shapes, just cool little embellishments. Well, now is your chance to use some of those pretty little things!
For this card I used 3 different CC Designs sets: Lucky from Love Ya' Much, LuLu from Love Ya' Lots, and Monkey from Monkey Love. I colored them with copics and punched them into circles, then used nestabilities to make the scalloped circles behind them. I don't know the patterened paper company because I had already cut the info off of it (it was a scrap). the corners are using my EK Success corner punch, the ribbon is American Crafts, the 'friends' font is Rockstar from Quickutz and the tape is from Dymo, oh and the buttons are from Foof-a-la.
Another fun challenge.

You can see more of the design team's takes on this challenge and add your own, here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/phptopro/showgallery.php?cat=537.

Christine also has the new cuttlebug embossing folders, you can check them out here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=246_671. I can't wait to get some of these!! :)

Sara's Sketch

Well to begin with, I might just have to get my daughter Sara to start her own blog :) Actually I love that we share this hobby/obsession and I love to see what she creates and learn from her. I also love sharing her creations with you. My sister saw one of the cards Sara made for me and said she would really like a card from her. Sara made her a bookmark probably 6 or so years ago and Sissy still has it :) So Sara took on that challenge. I told her about Jen del Muro's new sketch and printed it for her and this is what she made with it!

I love what she came up with. She loves bright colors and sparkles. She started with some provocraft patterned papers and one of my new Stamping Bella stamps. This one is Eloise Greengrass. Sara used prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits to color the image and glitter pens to outline everything. My sister won't see this until we see her I don't think, so hopefully it will be a surprise. Sara added prima flowers and dew drops (I think she likes the dew drops as much as I do :) Anyway, I'm sure I will be casing her coloring of Eloise, I just love it!

Hang In There Sketch Challenge

Good afternoon! Late again, but this time I have a good reason. Hubby and I went out this morning to a small town about 30 minutes away to see a hot air balloon gathering/competition. It was sooooooooo cool! There were probably about 75 - 100 balloons there and they had a little competition where they had 3 events. One of the events was to drop a beanbag type thing as close to this 'ring' that was about, oh I don't know 30 or 40 feet in diameter, as they could. Well many of these balloons were flying right over our heads. It was way cool! My hubby is designing a website for his photographs and when he gets those posted on it, I will link it to my blog. I'll let you know when.

On to today's card. I made this card for Jen's Sketch for you to Try: Here is a picture of the sketch:

Jen del Muro posts these sketches pretty often and I love doing them. Sara (my daughter) used Jen's most current sketch to make a card yesterday. I'll post that one tomorrow. If you haven't tried them, here is Jen's blog: http://www.iheart2stamp.com/.

Now to the details: I wanted to use my new Bella stamps, so I did :) Both the image and the sentiment are from Stamping Bella. The papers are from My Mind's Eye, the flowers are from Imaginisce, the flower center brad is from SEI, the ribbon and the polka dotted brads are from Hobby Lobby. I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits and then added some Spica glitter pen. I used scalloped scissors to cut the decorative edge around the image. That's it, fun card to make and it all started with the sketch :)

Red, White & Blue - but not July 4th :)

Good Morning! Today's card was made for a color challenge. Red, white & blue..........I was nervous at first because I was sure that my card would look like July 4th and I guess it does a little bit, but I'm fine with it. It was fun to try to work with these colors without doing a July 4th card, plus I used one of my new Bella stamps :)

I started with a white card base and added a red cardstock layer that I distressed with my little Heidi Swapp pink pac man distressing tool. I love that little tool! I then added a blue with red polka dots patterned paper layer, again distressed on the edges. Next is a layer of KI Memories lace cardstock. I think these papers are BEAUTIFUL, but this is the first time I've actually used them, I have only been admiring them for a while :) It was really easy to use and I'm sure I'll be getting more colors now :) I stamped my new teacup with flowers stamp from Stampin' Bella and then paper pieced the cups. I colored the flowers with glitter pens and copics and pop dotted that onto the card front. The sentiment stamp is from a Hero Arts clear set. I added dew drops and ribbon and called it done!

Have I told you how much I love challenges......they really get me to think outside my own box :)

ATS DT Wednesday Challenge

Good Morning! Today's challenge was a fun one! I was sitting at my craft desk thinking about what I wanted to alter when it came to mind that I'm always looking for a scratch piece of paper to jot something down on. Well, my desk isn't very neat most of the time, so I'm usually moving piles to find something to write on. Thus, this little note holder was imagined :)

I love the Summertime Fun set and everything I used for this is from that set. I colored everything with copic markers, ha ha you thought I was going to say prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits didn't you??? :) I painted the inside and the outside of the holder first to make sure my glue would stick to the surface and then on the inside I painted some Lil Davis glitter glaze to make the water glisten. (You can't see the sparkles from the pictures - sorry.) I used paper from Imaginisce and pop-dotted Lucky, Lulu, and Monkey so they stand out a bit. On the front, I punched the little stamps into circles and then matted them on Doodlebug sugar coated paper. I got the idea of using the little stamps as embellishments from Jen Ofiana. You can check out her amazing ideas here: http://stampinspot.blogspot.com/.

You can see other DT members creations for this challenge here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/phptopro/showgallery.php?cat=537 and you can participate with us too. We would love to see what you come up with :)

A Birthday Card by Sara :)

Good Morning! Sorry I've been away for what seems like forever to me. We took Sara and 3 of her friends to see the Jonas Brothers in concert last night. They played in Omaha about 2 hours from here, so Cliff and I went out to dinner and walked around the Old Market area while waiting on them. They had so much fun and said the concert was "amazing". They spent the night at our house and are still sleeping, imagine that :)

This card is the one Sara made me for my birthday. I had no idea she was making it. I think it turned out so great! See the little clip on the right hand side? Well the patterned paper wasn't big enough to cover the front of the card that she wanted to use so she cut a strip of it off and then cut the front of the card so it measured the same size as the big piece of the patterned paper. She attached the small strip of patterned paper to the inside back of the card and then stitched the clip onto it positioned so it would hold the card closed! Isn't that the coolest thing? The paper she used is from K&Co, the flower and the Happy Birthday rub-on from Imaginisce, and dew drops. The leaf flourish at the bottom is actually on the paper, but she used a coppery brown color to highlight it. This girl amazes me with the ideas she has. She and Ben both signed the inside and it will be cherished forever!!!

One More Thank You Card :)

Good Morning! Another thank you card that I have finished. Now, it's time to get them all in the mail :) I don't know about you, but life is flying by so quickly for me right now. Summer is supposed to be relaxed and s l o w, but for some reason, it's not slow at all for me right now. I've got a million things to do and it doesn't seem like I'm getting any of them finished. Oh well, just keep on plugging, right?

This card uses a new stamp that I got for my birthday. I had been admiring it for sometime and so when I was asked what I wanted for my birthday, this was one thing that came to mind. I love it. I call it the fireworks flower, but it's real name is "burst of stars" by Penny Black. I'm finding that I'm buying more and more Penny Black stamps. I really like them and I LOVE the Penny Black sentiment stamps because of the cool fonts and sayings. Anyway, this paper is also something I had been admiring and I finally ordered it. It's SEI's Dill Blossom paper stack. I LOVE all the papers in it. The name of it caught my attention first, I grow dill and I love how light and airy it is and I LOVE the smell of it when I walk by and brush it. Sad, really, how I buy things because of the associations with them........but I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the papers in this stack. Okay back to the card.
I colored the image with prismacolor and Koh-i-noor pencils and blended with mineral spirits, inked around everything with chestnut roan chalk ink, and added dew drops, stampendous glitter stickers on the little flower bursts (you can't see them as well in the picture), ribbon and stamped "thank you" with another Penny Black stamp. Easy and fun!

All That Scraps Wednesday DT Challenge

Good Morning! I know it's Thursday and the challenge is for Wednesday, but I tried to upload this yesterday and blogger and I weren't on the same page. For some reason it wouldn't let me upload my picture when I wanted to. Then I was working so I didn't get to try again until this morning.

Anyway, the Wednesday challenge for this week is to use this sketch: http://www.allthatscraps.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=569

This is my take on the sketch: I used papers from SEI Chick-a-doo line and stamps from CC Designs Summertime Fun set and the months set. Celadon ink from Versacolor, prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, ribbon from KI Memories, a tag rim from Making Memories and baby brads from Queen & Co. I LOVE this Summertime Fun set, I have already used it a bunch and Lucky, LuLu and Monkey just keep finding themselves in my stamping hand :)

You can see other samples that the DT has made here: http://atsblog.typepad.com/ats/2008/07/ats-challenge-9---sketch-challenge.html
and you can participate in the challenge here: http://www.allthatscraps.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=569
We would LOVE to see your take on the sketch!!!!

Thank You Again :)

Good Morning! It's actually really early for me this morning. Our son has been working in the corn fields and has to get up REALLY early to get started so we have been getting up to get him breakfast and to make sure he gets up :)

This card is once again based on one of the recipes from the Joy of Cardmaking - A Second Helping. If you've never seen these books, you should flip through them when you get the chance and see if the recipe idea would work for you.

For this one I used My Mind's Eye patterned papers, chestnut roan chalk ink, the Many thanks sentiment is from Karen Foster on one of her sticker sheets. I punched a scalloped square and put it behind the sticker and pop dotted that onto the card. The ribbon I think is from May Arts, but I'm not sure about that one. Then I added Primas and buttons on the inside. Again, simple card, but fun all the same!

Another Thank You Card

Good Morning! We are back from the Regional Softball Tournament. The girls played well and had alot of fun. Saturday, it started pouring down rain and the lightning was showing itself so we had an all day delay and ended up playing our last game of the night at 11:15pm Saturday night. We didn't leave the ballpark until 12:30am. Then the girls had to be back on the field at 8:00 am Sunday morning. We didn't win the tourney but the girls had fun so it was still a success :)

I'm still making thank you cards and will probably be for a while yet. This one is based on one of the recipes from the Joy of Card Making - A Second Helping book. I love both of these books, I think because they have the blank recipes so I can picture what I want to do with it without having to 'undo' the colors and theme that the sample uses. I don't know, I just really love these books.

I started with an orange card base and used some orange striped paper that is from WeRMemoryKeepers. It's an line exclusive to Archivers called "Endless Summer" fun stuff :)
The center patterned paper is from KI Memories - Surprise Giftwrap. Then I used Bazzill Bling as the orange behind the flowers, then a white layer, then Primas and glitter brads made exclusively for this Archivers line. I stamped the thank you, which is from Penny Black in Versafine Black. Very easy card!

I came home to find some new Bella stamps waiting for me :) Woo Hoo, can't wait to get them inked. I also have some new High Hopes stamps that I haven't inked yet. I have to get busy!!!

the first of many Thank Yous :)

Hi! I've got to get busy making thank you cards and this is the first one. My birthday was not too long ago and I've gotten lots of cards, from family and friends new and old. So now, I have a great reason to be making lots of cards! This one can kind of be considered loving an unloved stamp too, because I've had it for probably a year or so and this is the first time it's felt ink. I love the image though. It's a clear stamp from KI Memories. I stamped in Versafine sepia ink and then colored with copics. I didn't have the perfect colors to blend the flower petals the way I really wanted to, but I still like the way it came out. The striped paper on the right is from Imaginisce and the blue is Bazzill Bling embossed with a cuttlebug folder. The ribbon is a new one from American Crafts. The yellow paper under the image is from the Paper Company, metallic papaya. The thank you stamp is from Hero Arts. Of course there are hero arts gems on there too - gotta have some bling :)

Happy Summer!

Good Afternoon :)

Today's All That Scraps Design Team Challenge is to use chipboard. I wanted to use chipboard as an accent to the new Summertime Fun set that is now for sale at All That Scraps, http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=650_702. This card used Imaginisce "A Shore Thing" papers, cuttlebug embossing folder, stickles, Bazzill Bling, Copic markers, chestnut roan chalk ink, little brads, a white souffle pen, a chipboard accent that holds the Happy Summer sentiment and some ribbon. I didn't get very creative with the chipboard, but I might try another one soon.

My parents are here until tomorrow morning. It seems like they just got here, it never seems long enough, but we sure have enjoyed them. Mom has really helped me get my scrapbooking room more organized so you may be seeing some pictures soon. I still have a few things to put away :)

More CC Designs Sneak Peeks

Good Morning! This morning's cards are made with a new kit from All That Scraps. Everything I used on both of these cards is from that kit and we didn't even have the entire kit. There will be ALOT of stuff in these kits :) This is the way Christine describes the kits:

I mentioned before that this month would be our first ever card kit. I drew the stamps specifically for the card kit. Since everyone loves Monkey, he is back with a new friend, a bear. And what is better in the summer months than ice cream?
The kit will contain:
10 pieces of cardstock
6 pieces of pattern paper
7 yards of ribbon
36 brads
16 gems
1 Stardust Glitter Pen
1 Sweet Treats Stamp Set
1 Instruction sheet to make 5 cards
There is enough in this kit to make the 5 cards plus plenty more. This will be an every other month kit.
I sent the Design Team mini kits of the regular kit, and they have really out done themselves!

The kits will be selling for $30 and will be release Monday, July 7th at 10:00 pm. This is going to be a GREAT release.

Be sure to click over to the All That Scraps blog to see more peeks of these fabulous stamps. http://www.atsblog.typepad.com/.

Wednesday's DT Challenge

Good Morning! Today's card is for All That Scraps Design Team Challenge. This week's challenge was a color challenge using SU's Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip and Bayou blue, but since I don't have any of those colors, this is what I came up with.

The card base is white and I punched the slots in the right side of the back of the card and then punched them again in the "guava" colored bazzill. That was so I could make sure the slots were even. Then I cut the front panel of the card short enough so you could see the slots in the back. I used Cutie Patootie Bitzy Bug and colored her with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits and a little glitter pen in the flower on her head. I also used the CC Designs plaid background stamp on the chocolate cardstock. the blue is from Bo Bunny - Blueberrie Dots. Then I added a vellum flower from Cloud9 Designs and put a Prima in the center of it. Dew drops at the top (I had to find a place for those :) and then tied the ribbon through the slots on the side. Oh, everything is inked on the edges with chestnut roan chalk ink. I still LOVE these challenges so be sure to go to the message board at All That Scraps in the Challenges and Contests section and you can play along!
