A New Challenge Completed and watching "Gustav"

Today's card has nothing to do with Halloween......hmmmm. I woke up a bit early this morning, okay a LOT early - 4:00am. I couldn't go back to sleep so I came in and looked up Hurricane Gustav on weather.com because we still have family in Louisiana who will be affected by it. My parents have evacuated their home in Lake Charles which is in the southwest part of Louisiana, in preparation for the storm. According to the weather channel, Gustav is not as strong as Katrina but covers a larger land mass and is moving more slowly which means it will rain longer in one place, i.e. more flooding. Hurricanes are definitely a wait and watch thing.

Today's card is from SplitCoastStampers Technique Challenge. It's called black magic and it's using prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits on dark cardstock with white or very light stamping ink. It was fun to do and I may try it again with some Halloween images :) You can read about the challenge and even participate here. My card uses black cardstock, old patterned paper from Daisy D's, Memories white dye ink, Versafine black ink, charcoal chalk ink, Scrappy Cat "Botanicals" stamp and Autumn Leaves "Everyday Sentiments" stamps. Then I added Prima flowers and Petite Pearls brads from Imaginisce.

Our quote for the day: "Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead. " — Mac McCleary

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
